Ti giro le info ricevute dal mio amico Jeff. Ci sono anche le strade e i
nomi dei paesi:
1. There are many, many, many tourists who drive around Amish country,
so as long as you don't collide with their horse and buggy, they will not
mind your presence. ;-). To be clear - the Amish live primarily on their
farms, which are not close to town centers. I know this is a departure from
European norms, since farmers tend to live in the towns and "commute" to
their fields as necessary.

2. In general, the Amish are polite and patient but the challenge
would be to find one who is available for an interview. They usually keep
to themselves. I'm afraid I can't offer much help on this. I have never
spoken to an Amish person except when I was buying something. Perhaps this
type of situation is an opportunity however.

3. The heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country (as it is known here)
is east of Lancaster, PA on Route 30 and route 340. There are many places
which cater to tourists and explain the Amish lifestyle. They are not run
by the Amish, but are run by ex-Amish or people who have lived in the area
for a number of years. Names of towns which they should visit are:
Paradise, Strasburg, Bird-In-Hand and Intercourse. They are all very close
to one another. Take a look on Google Maps.

I hope this helps. One more thing - the Amish and Mennonite populations of
this area take the Sabbath (Sunday) very seriously. There is not much open
on a Sunday in this area. If they visit, be sure it is not on a Sunday.
Even I have made this mistake.

ciao
