Sabato mattina, da Faaker, sotto una fitta pioggia, partiamo alla volta del Tirolo, la nostra meta : High Alpine Road.

Ci immettiamo in Autostrada (A10/E55), da Villach all'uscita 46 di Bischofshofen ci sono circa 140 km., con due tunnel, il primo a pagamento (€9), e nonostante il tempo non clemente, il paesaggio d'intorno è veramente suggestivo.
Proseguiamo sulla 311, a tratti superstrada, per circa 45 km, quando in prossimità di Zell am See, si devia per la Grossglocknerstrasse (molto ben segnalata) alla volta degli oltre 2500 mt. di altitudine del celeberrimo biker's point.
Percorriamo i primi chilometri nella gola, incontriamo i primi bikers ed a giudicare da come sono bardati immaginiamo che cosa ci aspetterà più avanti.
Paghiamo il transito, €18, e cominciamo a salire i tornanti...lo scenario è fantastico, tra le nuvole si scorge l'azzurro del cielo e man mano che l'ascesa prosegue si nota la neve lungo il bordo strada.
I numerosi info points ci giudano verso la nostra meta di metà giornata.
Pranzo ai 2571 metri presso il bikers point, foto e proseguiamo verso il ghiacciaio.
Il saliscendi è pressochè costante, notiamo le baite lungo i pendii e i percorsi trekking.
Siamo per una volta nel luogo incontaminato e anche i nostri big twins sembrano apprezzare.
Nei pressi del ghiacciaio è spuntato il sole e da quel momento non ci lascerà più fino a Faaker.
Deviazione a Winklern sulla 106, rifornimento, da lì sino a Villach, circa 110 km, la strada è molto regolare e si può mantenere una bella andatura.
L'aria si è riscaldata, le sensazioni sono tutte positive.
L'anno prossimo si replica.
